About the Author: A native of Walsall, England, Fawzia Gilani-Williams studied Primary Education at the University of Wolverhampton. She then studied Islamic Studies at the University of Birmingham. She is currently engaged in doctoral research on Children’s Islamic Literature at the University of Worcester. She has taught at Islamic schools and public schools in the U.K. and U.S.A. As a writer, she has authored more than 20 children’s books. Deeply influenced by the ethnographic studies she conducted of Islamic schools, she seeks to bring visibility for Muslim children in children's literature. In addition to her academic and teaching pursuits, she works as a reference librarian. She lives in Oberlin, U.S.A. with her husband, Robert and their daughter, Muslimah.
